Alexander Simpson Senior Associate

Alexander is a European and Chartered UK Patent Attorney with particular expertise in the electronics and mechanical engineering fields. Alexander studied at the University of Sheffield, gaining a B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering before entering the patent profession in 2015. Alexander has experience in advising across a range of technology areas, including aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles, medical devices and renewable technologies.
Alexander has experience working with clients of all sizes. His experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the UK and European Patent Offices, conducting due diligence and advising on freedom to operate issues. Alexander also has experience assisting with patent infringement and breach of confidence claims before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and High Court.
Education:
Alexander has a B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering (First-class honours). During his studies, Alexander completed a dissertation project within Sheffield Robotics’ Green Brain Project (now Brains on Board), developing object avoidance software for autonomous vehicles such as UAVs. An academic paper was subsequently published on the project. In 2017 Alexander obtained a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
